Confession # 4 I hate January
January is such a blah and beige month and always has been. I love all the new organizing ideas out there that seem to come into stores in January, but I quickly become depressed when I remember how broke I am from Christmas and my organizing has to be put on hold. I also feel so overwhelm by what I need to accomplish this year... paintings, decisions about my daughter's education, my mother's and getting her homed cleaned, traveling service, weather or not I will do the chalk festival this year and if I will loose enough weight to be seen in a bathing suit this summer. Thank goodness the month is almost over and I can feel Like my life isn't at such a stand still. anyone else out there feel like this in January???

Proof
I just wanted to share some proof of a less subtle paint job, here is a faux finish that I painted to match my fireplace. These stone were much easier and less expensive to put in than real stone would have been.
Before, during, and after
Well I decided to paint the shelf instead of staining it because, I wanted a constant color throughout the shelf. I started by filling all the nail and screw holes and adding silicone to the cracks with paintable silicone. then I painted a base coat of Kilz, my absolute favorite base coat brand of paint. This favoritism began as an apartment manager, after seeing it's effect of grungy apartment walls turning in to a cameo beauty. Some paints already have base coats build in, do not trust their shortcuts you still will have to do two to three coats of paint. Well even though my husband hates projects and painting, I was pleasantly surprised to find, after a blissful nap, that my shelf had a color on it. My husband had done a wonderful job but. . . the color wasn't dark enough so off the home depot I went for another quart of paint. Next time I will by the trial size for $3.99. Oh well as the night went on the shelf was finished and having an unsuccessful thrift store shopping trip I spruced the shelf up with a few décor items from around the house. Subtle changes but a crisp finish

Confession # 3 …… I love projects…. My husband hates them
I’m starting
up for a third time, three times the charm right??? My blog and this time I am
pledging to be faithful in blogging once a week. I feel, not to brag or
anything, that I have come up with some pretty creative ideas and I can’t wait
to share them with you. Project for this week is to paint a 15 foot permanent
shelf. Now this poor shelf have been neglected of paint for over three years, due my husband’s
schooling and other list of excuses but tomorrow is the day. I will also going
to the thrift store to find fun nick nacks to put on my freshly painted shelf.
I will take before and after pictures to show how it turns out. Keep you
posted.
